Centre Vents & Auto Climate

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I noticed this morning that my right hand was getting a gentle breeze of warm air while my left hand was still cold!

There doesn't appear to be any air moving through the centre vents when the climate is set to Auto, if i set it to upper vents only, i get flow, but it's not 'blow-your-hat-off' strong.

Could there be a problem? Or are these vents usually pants?

Ta,

Pete :D

Funny you should post this - I thought exactly the same this morning! I didn't play around with the CC though, just left it in auto thinking that was the reason but I will have to check tonight and see if any other option gives me a blast of air through the centre vents.

If it's cold outside I believe that on auto it directs air to the footwells, windscreen and side vents, minimising air to the centre vents. That certainly seems to be the case in mine anyway. :)

I think the side vents and the windscreen demister are linked. The footwells and the crentre vents are independant of each other. The glovebox vent is always on.

Generally the centre vents are used when it's in cooling during the summer. And used less in the winter time. Only when set to auto though. If it's in manual it should do as it's told.

I had something similar and when they repaired it under warranty it was a set of wires that hadn't been connected up.

Returned to the car tonight at the railway station waiting for my daughter and tried to get warm found the same problem. Had to settle for the heated seats, first diesel and can't believe how long it takes to get up to temp.

Also have prob with the ice on frosty mornings good job I hadn't thrown the windscreen scraper away. Bring on the heated front screen.

Another prob is tring to find the ignition to put the key in on these dark mornings and evenings. Even my old? 97 Rover had a little light around the keyhole (am I missing somthing?)

I pressed the button with an arrow pointing towards the person and nice warm air came out of the middle vents, so as others have said, looks like auto keeps the middle vents off.

The reason diesels take so long to warm up is the hoofing great cast iron block and the thermal efficiency of the diesel engine. It repays you in the superior fuel consumption that all us Derv drivers enjoy.

If you hit the button on the climatronic with the arrow pointing towards the driver do you get anything come out of the centre vents irrespective of temperature?

thanks works a treat, in the dark thought the button were driver and passenger not footwell and head...glasses please

As long as you are sorted that's all that matters

I find that pressing the upper section button does see some air come through the centre vents but the dominant vents by far are still the side vents...

...puzzling.

I may mention it at the service :)

Tata,
