Front Speakers in MK1 Octavia

Featured Replies

I totally agree with you Dan, considering you advised me on my HU change at the weekend and got it all right!

Listen to Dan!!

You don't need any adaptors. Just swap red and yellow wires over, and remove the blue k-line.

The aerial does not need power (I checked this before and after removing the blue cable, zero effect). It just plugs straight in to the ISO aerial socket and works perfectly.

The only tools I used for changing the HU were some Kenwood keys for taking the old unit out, a pin for carefully removing wires from the plugs and a torx bit for popping out the glovebox for access.

When you say remove the blue wire, you mean just unplug out of the connector?

Or cut it...

I'm confused.com!

The blue lead is not connected on my new HU loom and will not be, so do i disconnect the blue on factory loom?

Ive read so many things, head is fubar ed!!:D

Doesn't your new headunit have a wire that would make an elecrtic aerial extend and retract (if you had one) then? If it doens't do that, which I thought most modern ones would, then that pin on the connector might not be used in which case there is no need to cut anything.

Sorted now thanks.

Just need to get some front and rear speakers now, everywhere is sold out of the infinity 6010 cs, are there any other decent options, they possibly will be amp ed.

I bought some Rainbows for the front of mine but got shot of the car before I got round to fitting them!

so u swap the red and yellow bullets over and leave the blue one loose and not connected to anything?

Simplest way to check is to tune in the radio, then switch the car off. If the unit remembers the station then no swapping of the leads is required.

As for the blue wire - you need to connect this to the blue wire on the aerial adaptor (if you have purchased one).
