Elvington and Otka.

Featured Replies

Well what an eventful weekend.

The turbocharged Kawasaki ZX12R that I was supposed to be running shattered its clutch actuator arm before it left the drive way. :x

Then it rained.

So when I got to the track I ran the Skud.

A soaking wet track meant the best 1/4 mile time was 15.78 @ 91mph

Despite not having enough room to get Otka flat out on the flyer (she was still accelerating well into the brake area) she ran through at 143.4mph.

Not bad for only 6k miles...

Here is the full and revised thread I posted on VWVortex (dont see why Briskoda shouldn't have it!)

Well due to a technical fault developing on my friends Turbod ZX12R, I didn't get the chance to run the bike at Elvington.

So we went anyway and as it was a run what you brung I put Otka up the strip.

It was soaking so the 1/4 times weren't great and the top speed times on the flyer were hampered by speed sucking standing water.

We did ok though, beating 3 scoobies.

I was the only Skud there and I drew some strange looks.

As I was burning out in the staging area my friend heard someone say "I bet that's an effing company car!"

Here are some pics.

Me burning out on the line.

The smoke got so bad it was coming into the cockpit and I actually passed the Scirocco in the right hand lane with my side window going down and plumes of tyre smoke billowing out! :D

Staged at the Christmas Tree and ready to go.

And we're off (but very slowly because it is wet and there is no grip)

So an unimpressive best standing 1/4 of 15.79 @ 91mph.

I also have a digital ten second clip of Me and Otka hammering through the flyer speed trap on one of my runs.

Here are the best flyer results of the day. Please not that bikes ran too.

Top pics!! Do you know what the Mk2 Cortina was running to post a 136 mph? Cosworth transplant or V8 maybe? I love old Fords , well into 'Classic Ford' mag as well as my Skuds...and how come harry potter gets such a nice Anglia?....imagine that with a Lotus twin cam and some Minilites....

OHHH HELL YES I REMEMBER!

High eleven 1/4 mile times in the wet!

The Cortina was running a Ford 2.9 V6 with 4x4 running gear and gearing to suit 1/4 mile.

The motor was supercharged and twin turbod with Alchohol fuel and two huge bottles of Nitrous.

BHP?

720...

Like a dork, I forgot to forward that video to me at work and I wanted to show a coupla people it

Any chance of sending it here plz??

Hey I just got my 1/4 timres back from Martin @ the timing van and I actually ran a 15.54 @ 91 in the quarter!

That isn't too shabby for a front wheel drive car in soaking conditions.

(Although I do say so myself!)

Those modern alloy wheels are what came with the 4x4 system on that beastie Dmac! And don't be too worried about that 'old car' look. I wish I had took some shots of the inside and under the bonnet.

You would have absolutely SHAT yourself. The thing was a monster!

That ain't no Cor****ingtina mate... :D
