silly oil question

Featured Replies

i dont really know much about oils for cars, i drive a fabia VRS and im using Fuchs TITAN Supersyn Plus 5W-40 to top up my oil, which is one of the oils which can be used in the fabia VRS sticky. ive noticed that some oils are fully syn and semi, does it matter which one i use or whether i mix them?

thanks

Anthony

you can mix semi and fully synth with no problems. It's not advised as you're diluting fully with semi and it wont be as good at doing it's job anymore but it's not a problem in this climate with the PD engine as long as all the all you put in meets the 505.01 standard.

It's Ester oils you can't mix with minerals or synthetics.

ah right that makes sense.

thanks for the quick reply Chrispy

See the technical guides section. Oilman has put on amazing descriptions of engine and gearbox oil types, grades, etc. All you need to know. Brilliant.

As long as it meets the VW505.01 spec it will be fine, semi or full synthetic does not matter and they will all mix.

Any questions, just ask.

Cheers

Guy.
