Argh damageed my alloy - how do I repair it?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just taken my alloys off to clean and try and protect them, but while tightening one of the bolts, I slipped and have now taken a small chunk out of my alloy near the bolt - I have gone right through the paint through to the alloy proper, I reckon it's around a 1cm sq of damage.

Is there anything I can do to try and repair this myself? Luckely it's in a fairly hidden area, however I am worried that if I don't reseal it, damage may occur on the wheel?

Any ideas on what I need to do to sort this. Thanks in advance.

Take it to a refurb place, will cost you £30-£40 per wheel

To stop the lacquer damage 'creeping' apply some clear nail varnish to the affected area to seal it.

Good tip, i like it

Buy a sliver paint touchup from a car shop, and paint it with that- you'll find it's not notceable unless you get very close.
