Car knowledge or maybe lack of

Featured Replies

My mate has a Corolla D4D 2.0 04 reg.

He had to get a new rear wiper blade and went to Halfords only to be told "they searched on computer" and even in the book that they couldn't find anything to fit the car as Toyota haven't released the measurements

I beg to differ as the car would be virtually the same as the pre facelift models when the range got launched in 2001

I'll have to check the Halford books myself to prove him wrong.

Incidentally I noticed his right hand bulb wasn't working.

Popped the bonnet and as soon as I shook the wire - the bulb came on!

He was going to take a trip to the dealer too...........

Just a general knowledge or lack of really thread.

I'd try your local motor factors before Halfrauds.

They've got bigger books of part numbers and the wipers are much much cheaper.

Or try a main dealer - I was surprised how much cheaper OEM wipers were compared to basic Halfords ones!

Or even a smallish garage forecourt. If I'm not sure about the size I need they're usually happy to let me say "this looks about right, may I try it against the car?" and then do so.
