Wheel Nut Covers

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I did a search and turned up nowt. Bought my vRS two weeks ago and must admit I didn't actually count the wheel nut covers when I left the dealership, but when I got home I saw that I had lost about 5 of them. I took note of them when I first test-drove the car as I'd never encountered them before (and had previously test-driven a different car that was an '07 with rusty lugs which really ruined the look of the nice alloys for me, which is why I took notice of them). To get to the point, do these things fall off quite easily and if so are they easy/cheap to replace and should I even bother? The salesman showed me how to remove them with the little tool included with the wheel change tools and they seemed to slip off with ease, so in a way I'm not surprised they could fly off quite easily. If they'll prevent my lugs from rusting, then I'd like to get the missing ones replaced. Cheers for any assistance you can give me.

I picked my vRS up in may and haven't lost one yet. maybe they weren't pushed down enough?

I'd recommend replacing them as like you said they cover the rusty bolt look.

Can you not go back to the garage and say that the wee covers were not put on properley, as the car must have had a service before you bought it and a safety check.

We managed when we bought my girlfriends focus before we got the fabia to get a full set of wheel trims as one fell off on the day we picked up the car, the garage took blame for not securing them to the car and gave us a set of full wheel trims.

Good plan, but I guess I should have reported it the day it happened (as it WAS the day I collected the car) but I wasn't sure it was common or not. Should have checked on here right away but with the recent move haven't had internet access until return to work. I may stop by the dealership this weekend and see what they have to say. I did notice some grease around the caps that DID stay on, so perhaps they greased some area around the wheels and this is what caused the caps to fly off.

the caps wont just fall off, they are pretty tightly fitted over the nuts.

i had the same problem but when my dad changed the alloys on his SE i stole some of the caps that were stored with the standard alloys :D

If they are pushed in properly, you do indeed need the tool to get them out.
