Oil

Featured Replies

I know there have been many threads on oil but .....

Will a 4 litre bottle of the correct grade (506 01) be enuf for a service?

Which engine?

If it helps the millers oils are 5L :)

Oil capacity of your engine will be somewhere in the 'Technical Data' section of your Handbooks; won't it?

Sorry but I haven't got mine to hand.

Sorry its 1.9 tdi Elegance

IIRC they take 4.5l

Not sure if you hae got the oil already, or where you are ourchasing from, but when I bought from Opie I seem to remember I needed 5 ltrs anway to get me over the free delivery limit, so the extra 1 ltr didnt actually cost that much in real terms!

IIRC they take 4.5l

I know this is a daft question (and off-topic) but, what does IIRC stand for?

If I Recall Correctly..

and IIRC the TDI 110 1.9 was 4.5L and I think the 1.9 PD 105 is too.

I'd buy a 5L put 3.0L in and leave the car to stand for 15 minutes. Check the dip stick and then add 0.5L and repeat in suitable increments of oil until you have it near to the max mark if you are DIYing it.

EDIT: Don't forget a new sump plug and oil filter too :)

HTH

If I Recall Correctly..

Thanks; simple when you know. I was using AFAIK instead.
