Hey I was just wondering if anyone has tried the new bluefin from Superchips on their new Skoda Fabia diesel. It is meant to give an extra 27bhp and 55nm of torque. This is supposed to produce figures in excess of 130bhp and 305nm of torque all for only £599. So has anyone experienced this yet?

It seems that bluefin must be a huge success for Superchips and as good if not the same as their custom remaps. They have just introduced bluefin for the Octavia 2.0tdi engine and it is available for lots of fords, audis, vws and seats. The real advantage is that because you plug it in yourself you can save the original map and then return it to this when time for service. Although I don't see Skoda having much of a problem with a superchips remap as Wings Skoda of Peterborough have a Superchips franchise right next to them and offer ECU remaps on new cars that they sell!!

I think I might be investing in bluefin - the car remap that is, not the tuna!

after I tried to install my bluefin soft to my 1.9TDI...my car stoped...I can't to start the engine...the immobilised is active...and I can't to reverse to the original soft....I have a lot of problem with a bluefin module. Before a problem to download a modified soft then this...now I have to call my dealer to bring my car at home....

:( Thats bad news man. Really sorry to hear that. I have not actually ordered my bluefin yet but it will be interesting to see if it does the same to mine or horrifying is probably more apt. Have u got it sorted yet? Hope you got on the blower to superchips and asked them what the hell was going on!!!!

Are you sure the battery voltage was sufficient while flash-programming the ECU? This is important, and I hope the instructions you get when buying a "Bluefin" tell you to be sure that the battery voltage never get's low (under 12ish volts) while flash-programming the engine ECU..

The diagnostic tools that dealers have specify that when flash-programming any ECU, if battery voltage gets to low, or the connection between the flashing unit and the ECU is interrupted while performing the software change, you might have to replace the ECU..

I would never flash any ECU without a good charger connected to the battery..

What I can never understand about claims like this is why the car manufacturer themselves doesn't adjust the mapping to deliver similar results if it is so easy to do. Better mpg is a very strong selling point, so there must be some big downside to it?

Good point. In this review they say their mpg dropped from 44 to 42 after a superchip.

Your MPG can drop with a remap, but it's going to be largely down to the fact you will boot it more

The engines are all designed with a bit of play in them for different areas of the world and different markets. Remapping is effectively taking the engine close to the limits of it's tolerences and will ultimately mean that if not done properly and driven accordingly you stand a good chance of wearing it out quicker.

i think u will find each remap is diffrent on a blue fin for that individual car.
