But it won't plug into socket under the dash as its a completely different shape, socket in car is rectangular and lilac/pink. Is there another socket?

The description in the listing is for the correct socket, and the picture loks about right too.

I'd say it was more purple, but I'm fairly sure that's the one.

Might be stating the obvious but I assume you know it's longer on one side than the other.

Yeah thats the one man, in fairness I was trying it last night in the dark with a torch but won't go on no matter what I tried. Didn't want to force to hard as didn't want to break something.

Thanks lads just tried again and managed to get it to connect with a little massaging, just need reassured that it was supposed to fit and that I wasn't going to break something.

Got Vag Com up and working will read codes for items in the "common" section but not in the rest. I presume this is normal for the cheapo ebay cables. Will have to get a proper on to do all.

Now you have a cable you can buy a license for $99 which will unlock many of the features.

I might just buy the proper cable and be done with it, got this cable as a trial but do I buy the licence from Ross-tech?
