Bloodhound Stages on Sunday 2nd May.

Featured Replies

Doing my first event of the season this Sunday at Swinderby, just off the A46 between Newark and Lincoln.

If anyone pops along then come and say hi to me in car 56 - white nova.

Paul..

I'd love to :D However, I have to put a shed up on Sunday :(

Lets us know when your doing another one and I'll try to pop along :D

Can you give me some times and a more exact location and I'll come along and say Hi. There's plenty of Briskodians locally, does anyone else fancy a trip out?

Sorry for only just replying - been fettling the car.

Its just off the A46 between Newark and Lincoln - near the halfway house roundabout on the new dual carriageway section. Its the oldairfield at RAF Swinderby and its supposed to be no spectator but theres always loads of speccies there. Theres a layby on the A46 that is often used as a parking place... kicks off around 8.30am and goes on till 4.30 or maybe later as theres 115 (or so) starters. Come and say hi if youre there.

Got my briskoda.net sticker to put on the car tomorrow!

Well at least one briskodian came down and said hello!

Had a good day taking 2nd in class and 35th overall - beating some far more powerful machinery and enjoying myself. Unfortunately a rallying incident meant that I got (more or less) T boned and need at the very least a new rear quarter and 2 new sills and at the worst a reshell...

Maybe a case or Corsa here we come.. but need funds which are lacking at this very moment!

Paul..

sorry to hear that Paul..................the way "ynot" was talking i thought it was you that was at the heart of it!!

hope you get sorted soon.......................

Hi Alyn,

As far as I am concerned it was a rallying incident - made a pass on a wide section that narrowed after following for probably over a mile after taking a minute out of her in 10 miles... Unfortunately 2 into one doesnt go and the passenger front end of her car made contact with the drivers door and rear quarter of mine pushing me across the stage and hitting a lorry tyre with my passenger side (taking out that sill). I did go over and apologise after she had calmed down (though didnt take the blame per se) and am sorry I attempted the pass as its caused a lot of damage to mine and it ended her event and thats not what rallying is about - it took the shine off the day all in all.

The cars still straight enough - wheels in roughly the same place and didnt handle any differently afterwards (maybe the bump straightened it - LOL) so maybe I shall get it repaired instead as its obviously strong.

Do you know of any good shells for sale? Preferably an already prepped one that hasnt done much work would be ideal. I havent got the space for a full reshell including the full car prep but a rebuild into a new shell is a possibility!

Paul...

BTW - the Mintex 1166s I had on were absolutely superb, despite bedding them in on the first stage (as per the thread on the BR forum)!

Hiya mate,

Glad you enjoyed yourself (apart form the incident)

2nd in class is a good result.

With regards to the "racing incident", all i can say is "been there, done that" . Mine has been reshelled and is almost ready to race again.

I'm sure you will be back out soon

LOL thanks Si..

Not sure yet whats going to happen. The cars in the garage and will stay there until after the Dukeries when I shall decide what to do. A reshell is going to cost me the best part of a grand, maybe more and panelling the same. A corsa reshell will cost me more like 2500 but will raise the value of the car significantly - a corsa with my mechanicals would be around 4.5k and a nova around 3k so it depends whether I can afford it.

One idea Ive got is to take the rest of the year off and use the money to build a nice lightweight tarmac car (750kgs or so), lose some weight myself and go and have a proper crack at the 1400s in Barbados in 2005. Would need a bit more power too but its a tempting thought!

Paul..
