Just picked up a VRS (2002) - Oil question?

Featured Replies

Hi, I need some advice on the best oil to put in my 2002 VRS. When I had a Civic Type R I used Silkolene which I found very good, but can anyone recommed a better fully synthetic oil? Thanks.

I had Synta Gold fully synthetic 5W-40 in mine ;)

When on variable service intervals skoda use Castrol Edge 5-30W. There are several types of Castrol Edge but the one which replaced the Longlife 2 and is designed for VW/Audi engines is the one you want. It's good stuff but ain't cheap. I've always used it.

Just a note - you'll need about 4.5 litres so one 4 litre container is not enough. Very annoying but most oil companies seem to be doing this now. :thumbdwn:

Using Mobil 1 0w40 here and swapping yearly. Its quite cheap in Costco at around £23 for 4 litres.

I don't know what to use, but IME you do not want Silkolene anywhere near the insides of a VAG engine or gearbox!
