Service dilemma

Featured Replies

Hi.

My 2005 Octavia 1.9TD told me it was due a service a few weeks ago. It had its first service last October at 18500 miles, about 17 months after purchase. It's noted as a QG1 in the service book.

Is it coincidence that the service indicator appeared exactly 12 months since the last service? :rubchin: Its done just short of 10,000 miles in this time.

The first service had an oil change using Castrol fully synthetic and I always top up with the same.

Am I to expect a service every 12 months on a car that could last me another 10 years?

I suppose I'm sceptical about dealers :irked: and don't want to be ripped off for a service that is not necessary :argue:. I'm also looking at going to Rochdale Horners who haven't had a good report on this forum.

Anyone got any suggestions please? :help: The Skoda is an excellent car btw......

Does sound like it might have been put on 10k/12 month servicing.

I'd be asking the dealer to check it and if it is then decide if you want 12 monthly or long life servicing.

Had the same problem from new.Mine is a QG1 which should be every 20,000 miles but my duff dealer here has been doing it every 10,000 miles using only semi synth oil.

I wondered why i never got the service indicator coming on.

33,000 miles now and had 3 services when should have had only 1.

Thats why i won,t recomend Westover Skoda for servicing or anything because they are useless :thumbdwn:

The curse of Westover Skoda.... again!!!!

Yes them again!!!

They need to have the Franchise taken off them.

But luckily now i have changed to Meadens of Sway and the service is 100%.

Hiya RedBaron. It looks rather like your car's on fixed servicing to me too. The only way of changing it back involves actually doing an inspection service.

Frankly, I'd prefer to have it on fixed with your mileage, so it gets an annual inspection.

Thanks for that. I'm going to ask them to check the settings when it's hooked up to the computer. I'll take it from there.......
