Nokia N95 (01.01)

Latest I've got installed is -

V20.0.015

13-11-07

RM-159

Nokia N95 (01.01)

Unfortunately the lightsabre things stopped working so I'm going to try and re-install everthing again!

Is one of those a branded firmware though?

I think that would be because you have an N95 whereas I am talking about the N95-2

N95-2 = N95 8gb for the uneducated ;)

Ahh I see, didn't realise that.

My phone was T-Mobile branded, but I changed the code and un-branded it.

It makes it such a better phone.

Problem with the Lightsabre as well, and GoogleMaps and....

Seems Vodafone has managed to embed 3rd party software within the firmware (d'oh). So if you plan on changing the product code, be aware none of the preinstalled apps will work. The Backup will work, but restoring it will only result in an error message. (hard reset gets rid of it though, dunno about a soft reset)

I would always say to start a fresh after a fw update.. ive read of loads of cases where people have had problems after f/w updates.. always because they try to do a full restore after.

i normally just re-sync my contacts then re-install apps/pics/music manually

I've been researching this myself and it seems the following is the recomended route -

Snyc with the PC and backup contacts etc.

Change the product code.

Format the Mass Memory

Perform a hard reset - *#7370#

Carry out the update

Restore the contacts and messages etc but not the apps.

If you want google then apparently you can go to googlemap.com with the phone to get it.

 - spot on.

or for those with a "classic" n95 with a memory card like moi copy any stuff you want to keep off the memory card and format that too, because any apps you install to the mem card will try to re-install when the phone boots up after an update.
