New Sporty Model launching next year

Featured Replies

Read in the motoring section of the Sun today that Skoda are launching a warem hatch of the 2007 Fabia.

It will be called the sport and will be available in 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.9tdi engines.

It will be lower and have 16 inch alloys.

Is this the warm up to the new Vrs if they launch one?

Davy

Nope, its just an extra trim level. :(

The official engine options are 1.2 12v (70bhp) / 1.6 16v (105bhp) / 1.4TDi (80bhp) /1.9TDi (105 bhp)

Has slightly deeper front bumper and rear diffuser with chrome exhaust, and rear spoiler.

Also has sports seats and steering wheel etc....

Looks alright that (sort of) a little less slab sided but that back end still looks wrong... still think I'd go for a Roomster Scout 1.9TDI if I had a choice of either..

not bad, same as last sport though..no grunt, they should try to put one in with at least 130 bhp,as any new vrs will be more than old model so probably 150+ you might find they would sell more too.

Well its nothing special and certainly no vRS. Besides you can build this car now by adding some of the options from the accesories range to a Fabia 2/3. The only difference will be the seat colours and lower suspension, the latter of which can be done anyway. Though saying this I will probably go out and buy one, well a 1.9tdi one with a Superchips Bluefin tuning box anyway!

That looks good, and I'd rather buy a ready made sport spec than have to put one together from bits from the accessories brochure.

Any idea on prices?

Good engine range too, the 1.6 petrol and 1.9TDI are not bad on pace and the two smaller engines are there if you like the spec of the car but can't afford the bigger engines.

The following is an extract from a Skoda press release posted on the GermanCarFans website:

"Prices start at £10,660 and £11,735 respectively for the 1.2 12V (70bhp) and 1.6 16V (105bhp) petrols. The diesel duo cost £12,115 for the 1.4 TDI (80bhp) and £12,795 for the larger 1.9TDI (105bhp). Insurance groupings that start as low as 3E (for the 1.2 12V) and VED bands ranging from B to D, are also certain to keep running costs down."

It is not clear how the spec relates to the current 1,2 and 3 specs.

Jesus, that's more than the mk1 vrs for the 1.9tdi

I'd imagine that it will slot in between spec 2 and 3 if those prices you've quoted are correct

After reading the spec list on the German Cars website this fabia sport does sound quite enticing. Just wondered if anyone knew how much heavier the 1.9tdi sport would be than the standard 1.9 tdi say the 2 or 3 which is 1170kg. I will most probably buy this new Fabia sport and add ESP (inc. disc brakes) to it as well as getting a bluefin remap by Superchips to increase it to approx 133bhp from the 105bhp. Actually the original output of the 1.9tdi (105) is about 118bhp so the final remapped power could be more like 143bhp with 305nm of torque, which is pretty impressive. VW always underestimate the power of their engines. This is beginning to sound like a promising motor!:)

Well spotted 'r Kenny' on the GermanCarFans website! Thanks

Skoda is adding a Sport trim-line to its Fabia range.

Fabia Sport models get a deeper front spoiler, 16" alloy wheels, a boot spoiler, a chrome exhaust pipe and rear diffuser in addition to a specification including curtain airbags, sports seats, front fog lights and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.

Sport models are offered with the 1.2 12v (70bhp) and 1.6 16v (105bhp) petrol engines, or the 1.4 TDI (80bhp) and 1.9 TDI (105bhp) diesels. Prices start from £10,660; Skoda dealers are taking orders now with the first deliveries in January.

That doesn't look too bad for the New Fabia and gives a bit more of an idea what a potential vRS could look like.

just been catching up on this myself. weve got a sport on order but its a 1.6i version but with ESP. soon as its here i'll get pics etc up and its a good excuse for a review ;)

i think the 1.9tdi version with esp and the eibach springs plus the bluefin box will be up to old vrs standards. the interior looks good (better in fact as it hasnt got the light grey bits) and the standard 1.9tdi goes well imoa. nice looking wheels and sunset as standard are nice touches.

i think as soon as someone does the above to one i think we shall see some happy faces at last!

I'm starting to feel a glimmer of hope :D

If the mythical Mk2 vRS appears... I hope it looks like that and then some!

i'll give you a PM when its here (after ive had a go of course ;))

Saw something identical to this the other day j13>6 with czec plates on. Was in yellow too!

I had to look twice because it had a bigger boot lip spoiler (bout 1/3 bigger, fatter) and an exhaust similar to the mk1 VRS on the left side.

The only badge on it said HTP 16V. Had the same wheels and bumpers.
