EPC & Engine Management Lights

Featured Replies

 My Fabia 51 Reg has over last year suffered first intermittent problem of EPC & Engine Management lights refusing to extinguish and problem has now become permanent with Engine Light. Skoda dealer now diagnoses EGR & Throttle Body leakage of air and estimates £600 plus with no guarantee of cure. Independent with VAG com diagnosed mixture codes 17559 P1148 02 Control (Bank2) System too rich and 17559 P1151 Bank 1 Long term fuel trim Range 1 leanness, lower limit exceeded. I was away from home and couldn't leave car with him to fix. Car runs alright apart from occasional hiccups and has just passed MOT with omissions tests passed:- Fast Idle <.2% vol .02% vol CO HC <200ppm vol 12ppm vol. Natural idle test CO <.3% vol .01% vol. This seems to indicate no major problem exists but the continuous Engine light is very annoying and I would love to find a cure. Any suggestions for this or name of trustworthy independent with right gear & experience not too far from Wells, Yeovil,or Taunton would be a great help

May help to say which engine the car has.

Thanks Chris. You are right I should have said my engine is 1.4 16 valve 100BHP or so they say but it doesn't seem as if it's that powerful. I am an illiterate computer user so I don't understand how this site works and I see I am not on any public forum. Any help as to how to get there also very welcome.

This thread may help with the power issue and maybe the fault codes you have.

I would suggest carry out a throttle body clean as a first step.

Does the car burn a lot of oil, is the air filter contaminated with oil?

Thanks Chris. Yes the car does burn more oil than I think it should and there was some oil in the air filter housing. Will try and get throttle body cleaned and EGR pipe checked. May take a while but will report back.
