This maybe a bit of a daft question but here goes.

This morning when for about 1 min after starting the car where the mileometer is instead of the miles showing it started flashing "service - Oil" then after about a minuite it stopped and the miles came back on the display.

Is this just telling me that the car may need a service or is this the actual oil warning light? I thought if the oil warning light came on then it would be on the main dash and would show up constant and probably give me a beep as well.

I haven't had chance to check the oil yet as I was late for work as it was but will do tonight.

It's a service indicator that tells you your car is due an Oil Service (the differences between an Oil and an "Insp" services are, I believe, detailed in the manual...

I have had the car just over six months haven't done many miles about 3,000 from its last service so it isn't really due yet. I pressume there is a way to cancel it out.
