Cup holders at an angle?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm thinking of fitting cup holders into my fabia and after some searching through the forums, have found some that fit under the stereo where the cubby hole is.

I found a few pictures that someone had kindly posted and the holders appear to tilt considerably forward.

Is this just an illusion on the photo?

Can someone please advise.

I've decided against the next to the stereo holder as I want two.

I want these for my fabia!

Any pictures?

Can they be fitted easily?

Cheers

Doesnt look like theres any interest in these?

I have them in mine.

They are brilliant. cost me £30 off ebay.

easy to fit, rip the drawer out, snap two lugs off the top and slide the new cup holders in.

very useful.

If you are VERY fussy about things then I would advise you not to get them as there is a very slight difference in colour and they sit in slightly from the rest of the dash.

they do tilt slightly but it does not detract from their usage is anyway.

they don't fit properly due to them being off another vehicle , hence gap and tilt

i've got the single cup holder and small draw , which i believe is out of the VW Polo

I've also got the one with the cup holder and small drawer in (said Arosa on the top in white letters when I got it so not sure about the Polo thing).....agreed the fit is not 100%, but you have to be pretty fussy to notice IMO.

In terms of colour match, mine seems identical - dunno where this comes from?

They are slightly angled due to the angle of the source car, the Arosa being quite steep sloping away from the driver as you go up the dash. As the Fabia dash as fairly vertical then as a result the drawer / cup holder angles down slightly when it's popped out but its not enough to be a problem unless you have a cup of coffee that is filled to the brim.

The one that slots in the side of the stereo (standard Fabia one) seems quite flimsy to me, yet it costs the same as what you pay for the bigger one off eBay.

Thanks everyone for that advice.

Seeing as I am renowned for my fusspottiness,

I think I'll go with the genuine part that goes next to the stereo even though it's a bit pricy

I may have one for sale very soon...

The Arosa/ Polo one is a single DIN fit to fit beneath the stereo, so in theory it should be nice and tight. It does fit tightly at either side but it's the top I think that tends to leave a bit of a gap between the unit and the bottom of the head unit. Not a massive gap but a few mm.

Didn't have that problem with the one I fitted to SWMBOs car.

Also, if you are fussy about the fact that the cup holder assembly is flat and the Fabia dash has a bit of a curve, you can carefully cut the front off the original tray and bond sections of it to the little tray part above the cup holders. I have started doing this and I may finish it at some point. It should also be possible to angle the two cup holder tray fronts slightly as they are only clipped on the sides and then bond them in position. I haven't gone this far yet as the slight difference doesn't really bother me.

Hmm, might just be mine then. There's a slight curve in the top bit resulting in a small gap that gets worse at the middle. It's not that bad though, just a minor niggle so I thought I'd mention it for the more fussy among us. :D

You could cut the front off the old cubby that you took out and bond the long straight section over the offending area. There is even a convenient line moulded into the outside which is in about the right place to position the saw.

Have the twin polo one fitted in my VRS vagparts.co.uk do it at a good price.

IMHO it looks fine in mine no real gaps

Got it wrong with the description of mine....the gap is underneath the unit not above. It's actually not a fault with the unit itself but the fact that the fascia plate beneath (where the heater ***** are) is slightly curved by design and the unit isn't hence the slight gap that appears in the middle.
