Anyone tried one of these?

Featured Replies

Been looking into getting a Sat-Nav unit and Bluetooth for the phone, anybody tried out this unit or one like it, there are a few out there from other makers also, wondering if it will be an easy answer to both problems in one. Also anyone know if this unit can be wired to the steering wheel controls in the Octy?

PIONEER AVIC-D3BT DVD SAT NAVIGATION BLUETOOTH IPOD on eBay, also Monitors, DVD Players Monitors, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Dec-07 13:46:43 GMT)

Hope someone knows more about this stuff than I do :o

Haven't used one personally but that looks sweet!!! Would fit perfectly in my mk1 Octy.

Hi Brian,

Yes, I have had one installed in my TDI DSG L&K Estate.

The car was ordered from Progress Skoda in Bedford way back in Early June this year with the three available factory options (Sunroof, Front parking sensors and Sat Nav) but it arrived at the end of October without the Sat Nav.:(

So with my permission the dealer installed the AVIC D3 unit, Bluetooth adaptor, Ipod connection and a multi CD changer for me instead. The dealers passed the installation to a local ICE firm and they configured the steering wheel controls up to it (I was very keen for this to be done) they also bypassed the Sat Nav route changer and the DVD player to work on the move too.

The Bluetooth works well with my Nokia 6233 but I had to download the address book one line at a time as the AVIC D3 would not accept a one hit dump with my phone. Not a real problem as 120 numbers took only 4 minutes or so.

Nice piece of kit.

Hi Frank,

Have gone off it to be honest, would have lost the in dash 6cd/mp3, and the DVD is CD based so if wanted to change route half way into trip would need to take out whatever was listening to - incert sat-nav CD, set in new destination, then back in my music - to much hastle :thumbdwn:

Just bought a Garmin NUVI 250, and will get a Parrot hands free fitted at some point

What you think of the L&K otherwise? Feels like mine is ordered for 7 mths now and not 7weeks :( - looks like will be start of Feb before I will have it :finger:

Cheers for the reply tho Frank, hope you are enjoying your car as much as I hope to enjoy mine:thumbup:

Hi Bryan,

You have picked up on the frustrating issues with the AVIC D3.

I have now put most of my CD collection onto an iPod making the multi CD player redundant. The iPod menu & info screen is more user friendly.

I am very pleased with the car so far, 1100 faultless miles on the clock.

The fuel consumption is now starting to rise. The average from 0 miles is now 35mpg, with the latest 30 mile trip average of 42mpg.

Cabin space is good, and feels more airy with the light leather and the sunroof.

It took me a while to get the drivers seat adjusted to an ideal position but this is now programmed to the key, nice feature as the car will occasionally used by colleagues.

Headlamps are very bright !

My own car is a Merc C class 250td Estate which is a little more refined and quieter on the motorway, but now I have had the Octavia for a few weeks, I feel happy enough to let the Merc go.

Regards,

Frank
