Car Tax cost

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Appologies if this is in the wrong place, ive just had the renewal for my car tax through, and its £112.75 for 6 months and £205 for a year. Is this right? The tax class on the form and on my existing tax disc says PC (Petrol Car), all the others Ive have say PLG (Private Light Goods?)

Basically, is this the right cost, and if not, does anyone have any ideas on what I have to do to sort it?

The car is an 04 mk1 Octavia vrs estate...

Many THanks

Rob

Thats what mine cost for the hatch version a couple of weeks ago. Didn't notice whether it was PC or PLG though to be honest.

thats what it costs i am afriad and it has cost that for a while now.

yup it stung me when i got mine retaxed as the time before it was £190

all cars registered after March 1st (or 31st?) 2001 were reclassified tax wise.

there are now several bands which determine your road tax cost's, based on the CO2 grams per kilometer iirc. The vRS is in band F.

Yup, thats the usual price. Just renewed mine :finger:

And don't forget if you renew online using a credit card they'll charge you an extra couple of quid fee for the privelidge!

Just paid that on my octavia 4x4 turbo. Its alot.

Thanks for all the replies people, this will be the first time Ive had to tax the car, (the dealer did it for me when I bought it) and it just took me a little by surprise! I guess im just used to cheapy Ford cars!!!

Either way, its worth it! Just got to talk the wife into letting me get it remapped now!

Cheers again...
