Lost my boost !

Featured Replies

Just been having some sport with a nissan 200zx (I think) and was red lining in second went in to third and seem to loose all boost from the turbo. I bobbed myself and came home rather steady. I'll take the car out again in a minute to see if it's allright but if anyone's got any ideas in the mean time they would be appreciated.

Many thanks

PS I still hate saabs

If you red lined it may be you hit one of the maximum boost exceed errors...will put car in limp mode...i.e no turbo.

Also I can't remember if was hitting the red line or the limiter but one of them will set an error in the ECU which may invaldate your warranty. Get someone with VAGCOM to clear it for you.

As above, has probably gone into over boost and shut down.

Usually ignition off and on again sorts it out.

IIRC its if you hold it @ the limiter for more than a few seconds it will flag the "maximum engine RPM exceeded" in the ecu... translated that means "warranty void" lol

It was about 85mph (private drive) in third which is no where near the rev limiter - allegedly ?

On the Octy vRS the rev-limiter in 3rd will take u over 90mph.

We have Vag-Com and we are just outside Derby

had something simular happen to me the other day in the wet... went to pull awau to quickly in 1st and the car seemed to die for a few seconds before coming back to life... the TC light was going bananas at the time to so i put it down to that.

Yup, TC will almost kill the engine.

Agree with Q.......I think this is different from what Blades experienced.

Car seems allright now the other thing I was thinking was I think my foot could have slipped a fraction and backed off the throttle slightly. With regards to warrenty the car's been revo'd at a mod friendly dealer so it may be allright.

Yes i did in my Furby VRS - Turned out that the pipe between the turbo and the intercooler has blown a seal which put the car into limp mode. The mechanics from Rainworth Motors who atended the event were good enough to reset the ecu fault, take the pipe off and reseal it. No probelms since. Felt like someone had thrown an anchor out of the boot when it happened at nearly 110mph !
