Featured Replies

Hi, I am new here, could anyone give me some suggestion?

I just bought a 51 fabia 1.4 MPi comfort with mileage 59k, and the last service just done 2 months ago at 57k. Do I need change the cam belt, cos the handbook suggest the belt should inspect after 60k.

cheers!

Yes.

Basically change every 4 years or 60,000 miles. So in both cases you need a timing belt change, get it done before its too late

Thanks, is that for all 1.4 mpi engine?

The 8 valve 1400 doesn't have a cambelt (timing chain)

Only 100bhp 16 valve 1400 has.

Hi all,

I'm new here having just bought an Octavia 1.8T (53) with full Skoda stamps (last one done by the dealer I bought the car from). It's done 48,000 and because it's 4 years old I'm going to get the timing belt, tensioners and water pump replaced. I've been quoted £393 incl. VAT from local Skoda dealer and I know other people have talked about prices but is there a big difference between dealers' prices and can I get it done cheaper anywhere else? Is it wiser to stick with Skoda dealers?

Thanks

a timing chain can be bought and fitted for one hundred quid.
