Prob changing my 03 Octy VRS estate for a Superb soon. Need some help with specs tho?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Been considering changing my VRS Octy estate for a superb 130 tdi for a while now as I want some better MPG for the miles I do (plus I love the slammed look on 19s ;) ).

Could someone let me know what the spec differances between the Comfort and the Elegance's are please as I've been searching the web to no avail

I know about the leather and wood internal bits on the elegance's and the chrome external trim but what else is the differance?? I'm pretty sure I want the parking sensors and climate and Xenons so does this come on the Comforts too? And when did the split fold rear seat come in? Not to bothered about wheels as I'll hopefully get a set of 19s just like on a mates modded A8 ;)

i.e. I think I would like an elegance with ivory internal trim but might settle for a comfort with cloth ivory if necessary as I can only really afford 7k max :(

Sorry for the millions of questions? Any help is appreciated :o

Regards

Dave

Comfort has nearly all the toys. It is only missing the chrome bits, the leather and the electric memory seats and the xenon lights. And on newer ones Satnav is/was standard on the elegance.

Parking sensors are standard fit on Comfort. I have added exterior chrome to mine. It is almost an elegance from the outside now :P

Oh OK cheers chris_1d

Does yours have the splitfold rear seat tho as I thought the superbs didn't have this but I've seen it on some late ones?

Might have to consider non Xenons :(

Folding seats seemed to be from 05, mine is a 54 plate 05 and has them, and personally I wouldn't get one without. They fold on to the seat squab though, the squab itself doesn't lift so it is not a flat surface when the back is down. If you are coming from an Octy estate, just as I did, the access is a hell of a lot less so if you haven't done so already, go to a dealers and check one out to make sure it is ok for you, especially the boot access. There was also a spec change between the folding backrest and the new facelift models. The early ones had an electric sunroof but leather and sat nav were options, shortly after, leather and sat nav became standard and the sunroof became the option. I personally wanted a sunroof and I knew sat nav prices would fall so I went for the roof, mine actually had the leather as an option so I got lucky there. Without wanting to rattle on too much, are you sure you want leather? even with seat heaters all round I don't think I would have leather again, its painful in this weather! My favourite items on the car, and I don't know if this is Elegance only, are the puddle lights under the door mirrors. I thought these were a gimmick but they are ace, auto dimming rear view mirror and reverse sensors.

All standard on a comfort!

All standard on a comfort!

Is that of all ages or from this 05ish facelift??

I have an 03 plate Comfort, and it has all the above standard. The only thing missing is the folding rear seats which were only available from 05...

One thing you definitely only get on the Elegance is the most god awful fake wood all over the place. It is truly hideous. I have heard a number of people who reckon that the beige interiors, leather or cloth, are a nightmare to keep clean and looking nice. I prefer the lighter interiors but not to live with, although I have just realised you had a vrs octy, the interiors dont get much lighter than that! Does the comfort have xenons?

Folding rear seats are from May 2004,

So 54 reg onwards will have them, plus a few 04's.

The things a std order comfort doesnt have are:

sat nav

sunroof

leather / electric seats

wood look trim

xenon lights

'chrome' trim

I actually quite like it , takes all sorts i suppose!

I had the beige cloth in my octavia, what a nightmare, i soon swapped them for black!

I have the 'Beige' cloth interior trim and have managed to keep mine clean not a problem on an 52 plate Comfort Spec and IMHO I have one of the nicer 'Titanium Look' trims as opposed to the wood which I changed as soon as I got the car....

Retro-fit of OEM Xenon's and Sat Nav can be fitted to the Comfort Spec Superb as I have done with mine with few problems......

As for the 19's on your mates A8, are they TSW Holsten's? Nice wheel and they suit the A8 very well.......sure if you can get a similar suspension set up then they will look brilliant on the Superb.........

Does the comfort have xenons?

Only if specified by the buyer or previous owner.....

My July 04 Superb had the folding rear seats. That was a Comfort, which at that time had the parking sensors, multi function steering wheel and 16 inch alloys as standard (I think). I went for the 17 inch "Solid" alloys on mine.

It does list the options for each trim level on the Skoda site, though that will be for 07 cars. Didn't realise they'd dropped the 2.5 V6 TDi.....

Nope they're Mandrus Emil wheels. (Designed for mercs)

V Nice tho :D

I went from a 53 plate octy Vrs estate to a 05 superb classic that was nearly 3 years ago and I am still loving every second of it ....the boot is a bit of a problem but I have a trailer and the seats fold down as well so have not been stuck yet.

pd 130 engine is very tuneable (170 bhp is easy to get to

) also has a larger turbo than most pd 130s  to start with.....225/45/17 wheels/tyres are a must and when you get used to handling it will surprise you, the head units are rubbish but the speakers are good so leave them in and install a new headunit.

it only has a 5 speed box but I have no problems with overtaking or towing.

the mpg is about 30 to 35 on town runs and 50mpg is very achieveable on the motorway.

Even my classic has many more toys than the vrs.

I have the superb book infront of me and the list of features and extras is long....very long

We have a Black Magic Elegence with Ivory Leather and no, it's really not have to keep clean - even witn a 17 YO golfer who hasn't quite got the idea of "clean" as yet. The colour combination looks great. As for the fake wood? All a matter of taste, but we quite like it - it does look a lot better against the light interior as opposed to the dark.

I have an Octavia with Beige leather and carpet and a Superb with Dark cloth.

The Octavia is easiest to keep "clean".

Round our way, the gravel and dirt is sandy so doesn't show on the carpet of the Octy. The seats are pretty much wipe clean if you've looked after them with the proper products.

This light gravelly colour stuff shows up instantly in the dark carpetted Superb. Bits of white cotton are always stuck to the seats. I have no idea where it comes from, but I never see it in the Octy.

Strange to say it - but the light colour is easier to keep looking clean.
