1.4 16v 75bhp

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking the 75BHP 1.4 Found in the Octavia and Fabia Auto. Are they restricted by the ECU, and If so can I alter/unrestrict it? because the 100bhp is identical??, so can it be made to be 100hp

I guess a remap would sort this?

The 100hp 16v acoording to my dealer (When I bought the car) isnt as fast in the lower revs than the 75BHP and the 75bhp has greater elasticity, looking at these figures he was right-

75BHP

Engine

CC 1390

Max Power bhp [kw]/rpm 75 [55] /5000

Max Torque lb.ft[Nm]/rpm 93 [126] /3800

100HP

Engine

CC 1390

Max Power bhp [kw]/rpm 100 [74] /6000

Max Torque lb.ft[Nm]/rpm 93 [126] /4400

So do i need to increase the Rev limiter to 6000 to get 100bhp?

If thats the case, Couldnt I just do it with Vag-Com

Welcome to Briskoda, Need_Power. Do you have access to any other technical information on the Skoda range, and preferably in English? :)

Sorry this is all i got. I have a friend who works in vw-audi service and he send me those 2 documents. I was also interested in tuning 1.4 75 HP version of my Golf mk4. But there are too many things to change and all this cost a lot of $$$, so i decided not to do anything.

Im not very up on the whole torq/BHP scene and could write all I know about this on a pin head, but, all 3 1.4's Produce 93 lbs/ft, which Im lead to beleive is the Real pulling power the car has, And BHP is (This doesent come from me) The engines ability to produce torq, so a higher BHP results in lower down torq and Accelerates quiker and For longer? But the 75bhp Produces it's torq quicker at 3800rpm, opposed to the 16v's 4400, so whats quicker?

I translated both docs, and the first two bullet points on the 16v are

Piston with higher stability

Cylinder head with coarser take in canons and exhaust fume canons

So i guess theres alot of mechanical differences involved too, shame a 100bhp auto would have been nice, maybe I could have got 0-60 into double figures.

You'd still get big losses through the transmission though. Take comfort in the fact that you'd still embarrass a Nissan Serena to 60... :D

Thats my cars only claim to fame, and the only thing i feel good about!, I tried overtaking one, driven by a mad abbie on a Dual Carriageway, it beat me, only cuz it was a petrol though, and as for the transmission part your right, the 75bhp OCTAVIA isnt all that slow, considering it's 180+KG more than a 100hp Fabia
