Continental Sports Contact 2 -205/40/17

Featured Replies

Im thinking of getting some Continental Sports Contact 2 -205/40/17 to go on the Fabia VRS on the octy rims. Anyone got any reviews. Oh my dad can get them from work for £60 inc VAT each

I wouldn't put them on my car even if they were free ;)

HTH :D

Reasoning?

Imhe of them, they lack grip in the wet or dry and really don't inspire confidence. I tried upping and dropping tyre pressures but they just never felt right. They are also shockingly expensive, but if your Dad can get them for that price I suspect it shows what kind of mark up they usually run! On the plus side, they do last forever :D

I'd personally be looking at Toyo T1-R's or Falken FK452's.......

Was looking at the toyo's but think they'd last me a few months, bit to soft for my liking.

Ill give the conti's a blast, see what I think. Ta for comments

I found the conti to be very noisy on a MK I octy, so I don't know how bad they will be on the fabia. I'd also agree with the lack of grip and while ok in the dry I also didn't have much confidence in them on slippery roads or in the wet.

I'd also suggest the Falken FK452, cheap, grip well and last well. They also look the part, not that it really matters.

I'm using Michelin Pilot Sports and they're fantastic. Decent grip in the dry and the car breaks away fairly progressively, even with a rear arb. Works very well in the wet too with no aquaplaning. I've used Goodyear Eagle F1's many years ago and they were pretty good but wore very quickly. Pirello P7000's were fairly well balanced too, had good wet and dry grip. Loving the Michelins though!

I'd try Yoko, Michelin, or Dunlop before Conti. Conti's are bloody noisy and after the first 10k don't grip worth beans.

i would put 4 random tyres from the scrappy on before fitting the conti ditchfinders, they are the worst tyre i have ever expierienced,in any situation,i would prefere to rub crushed glass into my nether regions than fit these tyres,it would hurt less.

Wouldn't bother with the Conti's either. Overpriced and not that good IMO.

T1-Rs from me too, but if you're insistent then one of the following:

Eagle F1 GSD-3

Kumho KU-31

Pirreli P-Nero

Uniroyal Rainsport1

All I have personal experience of, and would buy again (but only if I couldn't get Toyos!)

Steve

I have them on mine and it stays on the road  :really:

If your old man can get them for 60 bob, what else can he get cheap?

Yoki Parada spec 2's but like I said before I'd eat them in a few months. Want a harder compound

Must depend on the car!

I wouldn't have chosen Contis, but that's what the 968 came with and unless I provoke them on a greasy surface they stay put.

Erm... Not really, as the Conti's listed are Premium Contact, not Sport Contact 2s. Or even Sport Contact 3s as they're ringing the changes again....

£60 a corner is very cheap for what's usually known as a very good tyre.

I've had SC1s on my Citroen, SC2s are currently on my Fabia.

Due to Goodyear phasing out the F1 GSD3s I ended up doing an urgent pre-MOT tyre change on the Impreza. That now sees me running SC3s on the back of the P1. Can't say I've pushed them yet, given the weather we've been having.

I had them on my previous car BMW M3 and thought they were pretty good in all departments.

Not sure how they would perform on a Fabia as different car and different tyre size (245/35/19 front & 275/30/19 rears) can make a difference.

At £60 a corner, definately worth a try IMO.
