Fabia vRS passenger door blowing

Featured Replies

A month or so ago I noticed a whistling noise starting at about 45mph, rising to more of a whooshing sound as I drove quicker, which appeared to be coming from the front passenger door.

The car has been in to the dealer for a fix, although despite acknowledging there was a problem they couldn't actually find what it was. They changed the door seal in an attempt to solve it but this hasn't worked.

The noise is definately coming from the front passenger door area, possibly towards to front of the door. I've had passengers feel around the door while I've been driving and they cannot feel air blowing into the cabin.

Obviously I'm going to book the car back in, but I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts so I could try and guide the technicians as they were stumped last time.

I had this exact same thing. The noise for me was coming from the door seal near the wingmirror.

Where the window meets the door at the bottom, follow this black trim all the way along to the end where it meets the wingmirror base. On my passenger side there was a gap between this bit and the vertical section on the wingmirror base. On the drivers side there was no gap.

To fix it I lowered the window all the way down and put a blob of silicon sealant between the 2 seals so that they met properly. Let it go off for a bit then closed the window. Job done.

I diagnosed the issue by driving down the road with some masking tape, masking off different areas each time till the noise went away. I knew it was something around that are as the noise went away when the wingmirror was folded in. :D

EDIT:

Probably best to describe with this picture.....

See where the door trim goes along the window to meet the wing mirror base? There's a separate piece of rubber trim that goes up the mirror base vertically.....these 2 pieces should not have a gap between them. Mine did.

Excellent, I'll have a look at that later.

Might try driving home from work with the mirror folded!
