Clutch Slip

Featured Replies

Well, 2 days after a remap - the Angel tuning one - I now have clutch slip - I think. Accelerating in 5th and 6th between 1500 and 2000 rpm, the engine suddenly speeds up to 2500. More gentle acceleration and no slip.

Quite weird though. I was on a icy road and thought it may be wheelspin but the ESP light never flashed as it does normally.

No noticeable slip otherwise in lower gears - irresistible force vs harder to move object (higher gearing) ?

So a couple of questions. What do I need to fit as a replacement to stop this ?

What are the likely cost ballparks (I will sit down first :thumbdwn: and then cry - a lot) ?

And a bonus 3rd question - If I'm gentle how long may it last before I need to swap it ? Seems to drive fine apart from this.

Thanks.

Likely cost for a performance clutch and flywheel? Hmmm, well you should budget around £500+ for clutch and flywheel I suspect, and then 3 or 4 hours for fitting? Look for Sachs/Helix, etc. I got mine imported from the USA which was ideal for me as for £600 I got a 560 lb/ft clutch.

If you're gentle, should be OK for quite some time. :)

or dont boot it from 1500rpm!

even as standard you'll kill the clutch doing that.

feed the power in gently up to about 2500 - then boot it and it's smiles all the way :D

Or you can just drop a cog. Remapped fabbys need to be driven more like a petrol car. You've got plenty of bhp high up - use it!

My thoughts as well, just adapt your driving style.

I'd rather drop a gear than pay £500.

Its going to be tricky as I love the punch, but yeah I suppose I should adopt a new style.
