If a car has been a "total loss" does this effect insurance premiums.

If you mean a car you are about to buy which is a rebuilt total loss then yes... it will affect premium you pay... The insurers love being able to charge extra, for any thing

Depends what category it was, do you know what the damage was, i.e. cat C or D? I was quoted for insurance on a cat D repair, didnt mention at the time but their records show evrything against the Motor Insurance Bureau. Sure it will make some difference to the cost.
