wheely technical question

Featured Replies

My vrs is going to be off the road for a year and I want to stop it sitting on its tyres and creating flat spots whilst still being able to get it in and out of the garage, so I don't want to put it on axle stands. Current plan is to get some s/h steel wheels and old tyres and leave it on them for the year, so the questions are:

Do standard fabia wheels fit?

If not what wheels do fit?

What is the pcd for the studs so that I can specify at the breakers?

Note that tyre size will not be important because it's not going on the road.

Any other advice about laying it up for the year?

Thanks in advance.

Further question:

Does anyone know of an insurance company that will insure the car for fire and theft only without any NCB (had to transfer that to another car) - the ones I've tried so far will only consider insuring it with NCB attached, even though the car will be SORNed!

should be able to fit any vag wheels on it as long as its pcd is 5x100

you get banned?

sit it on bricks :)

No ban or points, just teaching No.1 son to drive - insurance quotes for 17 year old on a provisional were completely out of the box for both the roomie and the furby so I bought a cheap and very nasty punto for him to learn in. To get that on the road I had to transfer the NCB to the punto, and running 3 cars is just too expensive - the punto will be sold next year when he goes to uni and the furby put back on the road so I can get back to enjoying it. The sacrifices we make for our kids!!

I know that insurance companies have our srotums in their hands. It's the squeezing that really hurts!
