Help! :( *sobs* Somethings wrong with my vRS...

Featured Replies

Greetings all.

I'l give you guys a quick brief. Got my Furby back just over a week ago, after it had a new turbo fitted under warrenty. They just replaced the turbo, and the gaskets. Nothing else needed replacing...the turbo however went in a rather nasty way. It actually blew on the seal, so sent the entire sump out of the exhuast - the downside was for a good few days afterwards it was rather smelly and smoky - bar that it was getting back to normal nicely.

This morning however I was on the way to work, and had been driving about 15 minutes. The engine had run up to temperature, and I had not been aggressive to it, I was doing about 85mph, in 6th gear when I felt a small, quick jerk and a loss of power. I stopped at the traffic lights and prepared to power away on the next duel carriage way - and the car was gutless. It felt like there was no turbo, well it felt worse then that - like limp home mode perhaps?

I pulled over and there was no dodgy smoke, so no boost hose issues, and I lated confirmed this by having a good look over the engine bay when I got to work.

I called Skoda Assistance and they said it would be a three hour wait. In those three hours I had another look at my car, and took it for a drive - and oddly enough it was perfect again, full power had been restored.

After about three hours passed a VW Breakdown dude arrived - he was great and had a good look over the engine and found nothing at all...he plugged in his computer and there was only one fault code up - that said something to the effect of ECU Total Malfunction - No Response from ECU. But bar that - no dash board lights, and no other faults to clear...and despite that rather serious error message the car is now fine again.

He said he had never seen that message before and just said I should take it into Skoda as soon as I can - however I know that despite that message, if there is no physical problem with the car - and the problem that did exist has now gone and could prove to be very sporadic what can I do??

EDIT - I'd like to point out that despite that ECU message he was getting he could still read all the ECU and got good data from all the sensors.

sounds lik limp mode - it's reset by turning off the ignition. Perhaps a loose plug or boost connection (which would hav shown on a scan)...

Good luck

bas

Maybe worth chatting to Jabba and see if they have any ideas. Hopefully just a n isolated boost spike or something which put it in limp mode that a recycle of the ignition cured :D
