Annoying Skoda Felicia 1998 "BrakeDisks"!

Featured Replies

Okay...so i just got my driver's license and i'm now allowed to drive my Skoda Felicia 1998 around and yeah...i kind of love it....but as wild i am of a driver i couldn't stand driving on normal roads rather than playing around a little on "off roads" learning to use the handbrake and stuff...so...i *accidentally* got little rocks in some weird place around the brakedisks so it makes the worst sqreezing sound ever...the first time i got to a car repair place thingy (don't remember what it's called cause i'm tired) and they jacked the car up,removed the right-front tire and then "moved the brakedisk from side to side" getting the little rockpiece out of that little space it got to,to begin with.

anyway...a similar thing happent again and i'm totally not ready to go through the same things again....the sound is even worse now and i kind of think something may have gotten damaged or broken even...so i booked a place at a car repair place "thingy" tomorrow @ 4pm....and if i'm lucky i'll be driving like a maniac again soon...but being more careful.

Some good tips and maybe easy help needed ;).

Im guessing you got stones in between the brake disk and brake pad. And driving with this can send you brakedisks to hell pretty fast. I would not recommend driving anywhere when you have this. But if you have a jack and some small tools you can pretty much anywhere.

I would just take of the tire. Open the cup on top of the brakefluid resorvair(sp?) and carefully pry the breakpad from the disk. If this happens many times also inspect how much you have left on your brakepads. Sounds like they might be about due for a change.

If you get new ones there should be a smaller space for stones to get stuck.

I must also say if you continue to do powersliding in gravel you will get stones stuck between the tire and rims and will lead to you being stuck with a leaky tire.

But ive been there. Its fun as hell until you get tired of fixing all the **** that happens when you do it too long.

Find some snow instead =)

Zachry

It's probably not even a stone between the pad & disk as there is very little space between them in normal activity (which includes thrashing it round on gravel).

The culprit is more likely to be a stone wedged in the caliper carrier which then prevents one of the pads from engaging fully onto the disk, making it vibrate and squeal.

If you cannot find a stone wedged in the carrier, then do as Zachry suggests and do what the garage did yourself.
