A 5 speed gearbox from a 2001 Fabia TDI PD100 fitting onto a 2004 Fabia 1.9 SDI engine? :)

Simple yes or no please? Thanks

check engine codes?

Its not a simple yes or no, but i wouldnt see why not!

Cant see there being any difference in sizes of gearbox, bellhousing, flywheel etc.

Try it and find out :D

check engine codes?

That's the annoying thing. My "source" has gearbox codes alone, not engine codes, and I don't know the code the SDI uses andwhat code my TDI 5 speed is.... :(

There seems to be a multitude of 5 speed manual boxes too - at least 7 different, but most of them appear to be 02T boxes, with a smaller selection of 02R boxes. No idea going on codes how they link in to the car.

Don't forget the ratio's will be longer and probably won't suit 68bhp.

Hehe - I have an image of an SDI doing 130mph now. I suppose if it had enough juice, and a bit of downhill, it probably could? I've noted down the plate of the two cars the gearboxes relate to and I'll ring my local dealer up to clarify which gearboxes each one has, and go from there. :)

From the looks of this post jason, id say you were hankering after an sdi conversion for the mongrel

I wonder if anyones ever broken the 100bhp mark with an sdi

Or the first ever twin engined Fabia? Bit like the twin engined A Class that was done a few years ago. Nice.

no no no, this is purely aiming at a possible bit of profit on the buying of a foooked SDI, getting my gearbox attached, and selling it on. Thankfully, there's no capital gains on motor cars, so there's no tax issues with any gain I make on the subsequent sale of the car.

Rang my dealer this morning - Apparently they need CHASSIS numbers as well as the reg plates to give me the gearbox code.... Is this right? :( I will struggle to get the chassis number of the SDI. Anyone got an SDI fabia they can let me have the chassis number of?

This may help you?

eng.code. KW BHP CC.

1.9 SDI Hatchback 12/1999 - ASY 47 64 1896

1.9 TDI Hatchback 01/2000 - ATD 74 100 1896

1.9 TDI RS Hatchback 06/2003 - ASZ 96 130 1896

Or was it the Gearbox codes you need?

Oh and all 3 engines have a different clutch kit aswell matey......

Yeah - Ideally, I need a chassis number from a fabia SDI hatchback, and a chassis number from a 1.9 TDI PD100 (which I can provide as my car's chassis counts ;))

With the chassis numbers I can find out which gearbox codes each one uses....
