First things first, I'd better introduce myself

I'm Ben and I have a Skoda by proxy

Explain I hear you say

OK, the other half has recently bought an 02 plate 1.4l petrol Fabia to replace her Y reg Polo so I thought I'd register on here so we can access the (hopefully) wealth of knowledge

So far we're really pleased with the car -apart from a few niggles

1. The air-con only works intermittently

2. It appears to have a sensor fault as the coolant temp light intermittently comes on when she first starts the car. If she then turns it off, waits 15secs and then restarts the light stays off

3. Fuel consumption. She is only getting 29mpg and this is not really dependant on the type of driving she does -its pretty much the same on a decent motorway run as it is round town.

On the plus side it is a step up from her Polo in terms of ride, spec and VFM and she's really pleased with it, its just a shame thats its had to do so many miles back to the dealer to be worked on

cheers

Ben & Heather

Hi, Ben

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Plenty of people be along soon to help solve them I'm sure.

Hi anony, thanks for the hellooo

Second task after introducing myself: search teh forum for "coolant temp""

WOW what a load of posts that brought back and I can safely say my mind is pretty much at rest -will shout at the dealer and get a new bottle fitted

Just ought to clear u too that the air-con has been fixed on the last visit so it seems -had the car 3 days and the entire dash out to replace a switch

So that just leaves the MPG -time for my first proper post :)

Ben

Air filter would be one of the 1st things to check.

Skoda advise 40k change - way way too optimistic. I changed ours at 16k and it was pretty grey.

I'd say 20k max as a 'rule of thumb'.

Easy enough to check - two screws, a bit of twisting to one side.

MPG will drop at this time of year - more so for short journeys (engine warming up etc)

Good to hear the other things have been sorted.

Hello and welcome. Glad to see some of your problems are getting sorted. Glad you like the car too.

welcome to briskoda
