Tyre noise supression

Featured Replies

I think there is a reasonable amount of tyre noise from the back of the Octy II and while I know bridgestones/conti/etc are not exactly quiet tyres I'd like to do something about this.

I'm armed with 8 sqare feet of dynamat extreme

Any suggestions as to where to put it for maximum tyre noise reduction?

I'm thinking below the rear bench and if I can get to them on the rear wheel arches.

Any suggestions as to where to put it for maximum tyre noise reduction?.

Round the ears

You're probably right with what you've stated.

I don't think my passenger would appreciate me sticking it to her ears though :D

Didn't think you'd be so lucky :P

Noise transmission so 'funny' - what you suggested sounds right but am no whizz kid on this subject.

I was just thinking maybe others had had a go at this.

Oh well, looks like I'll go for the get rid of the drum skin approach and see what happens then :)

Ive done it with underfelt just the rear and under the spare wheel.

It reduced the noise from the back considerably especially the high pitched vibration noises.

Too much trouble getting to the wheel arches, but do them if you can.

Try wrapping it round the wheels!!!

Well it's done.

2 Packs of Dynamat extreme.

I did the boot floor area directly behind the seats, the spare wheel well had a few pieces stuck on it and the area under the rear seats got some added.

I also put a couple of pieces on the wheel arches under the seat squabs.

Result .

Much less noise from the rear. It isn't totally gone, but doesn't sound like somebody has a drum kit in the back either...

Just a shame the wind noise is more obvious now :(

That's a result of giving it too much beans :D

Er, I meant the car, of course.
