Hi All. Whats the best way to lubricate a stiff handbrake leaver. Mine is becoming stiffer anf harder to pull and I wondered what is the easiest way to lubricate the cable?

My handbrake seems stiff, dont know if it is the corrugated sliding trim which is the problem. Sounds like the handle is binding when you pull it on.

Ditto, mine is similar but I just live with it, it doesn't usually spring all the way down on it's own

I would think it's the plastic trim that slides up and down with the handle (as mentioned by Phil L&K). My first Octy II was fine but my current one is a pig. I might have a go at lubricating the underside of the plastic at some point.

I have just got a new vRS and the handbrake feels very stiff. Seems to be the sliding corrugated trim that is binding slightly - I can hear it squeak a little as I pull up the lever. Has anyone cured this? I suspect some silicone spray on the sliding surface might help. Is it easy to get at the back of the lever mechanism?

I've tried the silicone spray you mentioned, without success. If anyone does know a cure - speak up!

Has anyone tried repeatedly moving the level up and down a few times to try and wear away whatever it is that is rubbing?

I found mine was cured when i used autoglym rubber and vinyl on the interior... seems much better...
