No Wipers In Intermittent Mode

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Today the wipers when switched on in intermittent mode have stopped - The ones where the wiper comes on every five seconds -

However the other wiper cycles - ie repeating / fast repeating work fine.

I hope I ve made my problem clear :D

Is this a fuse problem? If so how can it be fixed and what fuse needs checking?

Thanks

Sounds to me like the wiper relay has gone.

What car do you have?

1.4 Fabia - Its the 2000 model - 8V I believe.

What do you mean by the relay? How can you check it?

Make sure the bonnet is fully shut, there's a switch which disables intermittent to tell you 'bonnet not shut', a warning light would be easier of course! If you unplug the switch, which is near the bonnet catch, the wipers work whether the bonnet is shut or not which you could try as a test?

Bonnet not shut gets my vote. As that's the easiest to check (just open it and drop it shut or firmly push it shut at the end) i'd do that one first :)
