GOOD vs BAD

Featured Replies

The good

Xenons - brilliant

Economy - never below 45

Runs on Bio

Performance - very good for what it is

Dealer service - good bunch

No-one had one (Not when I bought it)

The bad

Thin paint - more chips than Shifty

Handling - Understeery, understandable but annoying

Reliability - in 57k we had a wheel bearing, clutch, flywheel, rear brake hose, turbo, intercooler, door seals, front bumper respray due to peeling, boost leak and a few other things.

Interior quality - More rattles than a baby

White seats - Muppets

Standard Stereo - Really bad Symphony unit

Real narrow power band

The brakes - They are crap, really crap

It pulls left - Nothing could fix it

Everyone had one (When I got rid)

I bought the car with great expectations coming from a solid Mk4 Golf needing something that could perform well with economy. I got that and more and for that the car should get an award, however it does tend to be the great allrounder which then leads you (Well not everyone but enough people on here know what I mean) feel a bit let down in certain areas such as the poor handling etc.

I modded out most of the bad points and when you do this you wonder WTF they didn't do any of it from new. I spent about £1300 on mods and I had a custom remap with full Eibachs, RARB, 312's and a few other little tricks ;) and I ended up with a brilliant car. Problem is it took a toll on the reliability.

Now there is a whole other thread.....
