Anyone had the front discs/pads replaced on a 1.9sdi? Local dealer quoting 170 plus vat for discs, pads, fluid and labour. Does that sound reasonable?

Discs and pads have just cost me £60 for the front from unipart, had to fit them myself although its a piece of wee wee

Sounds reasonable for a main dealer, but if you source the parts yourself (GSF, Eurocarparts, or motor factors) and get a local independent to do the job for you, you should be able to halve that cost.
