Water leaks - again !!!!

Featured Replies

Hi gang

First post so please be gentle. Just bought a 2003 Fabia 1.2 classic H/B from a main stealer. I read about the door water leaks problem on here, and asked the stealer to check the car. Of course they said they had. Needless to say washed it the other day and guess what water making it's merry way in through all doors. Worst is rear offside.

Now I have read some of the posts on here as to how to cure it. But I have a few questions to help me decide wether to DIY or risk returning to the stealer (whom I no longer trust).

Firstly on the front doors, how do you deal with the mirror remote control **** and any workings behind ? the mirrors are manual so I have a **** both sides.

Fairly happy with rear door I think, of course open to any up to date pointers.

Some posts suggest removal of the door carrier for a proper repair, however I don't have a rivet gun. I am sure the stealer will only seal them. So what is the best sealer to use, the skoda supplied one or my prefered option of a good quality silicone sealer.

Otherwise nice car, but not sure I would have bought it in the light of all this. Do repairs last the life of the car generally or is this going to become a ritual ????

Thanks

I bought some gutter sealant but my old man said it would be better to use some caravan sunroof stuff hes got lying around

i used the gearbox silicon sealant we have at work , just dried the inner panel edge off , then squeezed the sealant in around the edge, no leaks have reappeared , its not the correct procedure , but i'm happy and my carpet is dry
