Steering sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi.

My daughter's Fabia has one of the well documented problems of:

'Steering warning light on''

'intermitent dimming of lights'

'Sometimes steering goes stiff'

As far as I can gather from the comments on this very helpful site it is probably caused by a faulty sensor.

The car is a 2000 Fabia 1.4 8 valve.

I was looking for a link that would give me instructions on how to change this sensor and found this one:

Fabia-vrs.com - Replacing the Fabia PAS sensor

But it does not seem to work, is it me or can someone point me towards another link.

Daughter has been moaning about this fault for some time and I would prefer to do it myself if possible.

Thanks

Thanks.

Thats great, I shall proceed to order one of the beasties now and hopefully solve the problem.

Someone put a lot of work into compiling the info, thanks and I will let you know how it goes.

Cheers

I've had this problem on two Fabias. On one it was the steering sensor. On the other it was an intermittent connection in the wiring loom behind the dash (Nice!!).

The longer I live with this problem the more I'm convinced it's not the sensor, but something to do with the battery. Over the Xmas period, the weather got a little colder and I've had almost no issues with the power steering light at all. And on the times that I have the very simple technique that I've outlined before (engage reverse. Hold foot break. Ride clutch until engine almost cuts out) cures it every time.

Mine does it too, only on startup the light comes on occasionally ?

Don't know about riding the clutch :( (ooooh) but I can just switch the ignition off then on again and its fine? :)

Well I've been doing the clutch trick for over 18-Months will no decernable effect to the clutch.
