Ive fitted one i won off eBay today.

Works a treat, just need to find a good ipod carrier now.

Cheaper than the VW one, and is easy peasy to fit.

Mine was 34 quid of the bay.....

I've currently got the VW/Skoda iPod unit fitted in my Fabia vRS and although it plays well, only having the first 5 playlists easily available frustrates me somewhat - going through all the convoluted button presses from the 'menu' available via button '6' to play any of the other playlists is less than easy...

Having read the PDF Instructions on the link further up this thread, its a bit vague on operation - it suggests you can go through all the playlists on the iPod by going up and down disks but the Fabia head unit doesn't have such buttons - so are you still only able to play 6 playlists related to the buttons 1-6 or am I missing something?

Would appreciate it if someone who has one of these fitted could give a better explanation of how it works in relation to the Fabia's head unit before I decide whether its worth me changing to this instead.

Cheers,

Hi Simon good to see you are registered!

Im Allnighter off BR forum just so you know....

Ill have a look into my lead as i dont have more than 2 playlists on my ipod at present...Ill ask someone who has one fitted at work tomorrow.

If it's anything like the Dension iPod connector, the head unit sees it as a CD changer.

So, discs 1-5 are the first 5 playlists on your iPod & then disc 6 allows access to all playlists....................I think! ID

Cool, cheers Jon.

Yeah, thats the one I've got at the moment - button 6 brings up a menu on the ipod screen which you have to navigate with the < > and << >> buttons - which is near impossible when you're driving :thumbdwn:

Would have been much better if < and > moved up and down the tracks and << and >> moved up and down the playlists.

Hopefully the Connects2 one works a bit better so you can change to any playlist easily while driving without needing to peer at the ipod screen.

It's great when you have steering controls though! :D

Has anyone verified how the connects2 works with the Skoda Symphony HU yet??? I was under the impression you had no control over the ipod when using the Connects2 and you used the ipod itself to select playlists etc.... Only using the volume control on the HU.

I was looking at THIS Connects2 item..... What's the differance between this one and the one above at nearly double the price???

Also how does it work in regard selecting the ipod or CD..... The HU is a CD player also so i'm assuming it thinks the connects2 is a changer.... If this is the case when i press the CD button on the HU what will play??? The CD or the ipod via the Connects2??? Or is it a case of it plays the CD in the HU if one is in and if empty it plays the ipod.

Hope all that makes sense to someone. :D:D:D

Cheers

Dave.

Mine plays the iPod, and if you have CD in it plays that instead...weird.

I can control the volume via the HU, but it doesnt alter on the iPod...if that makes sence...

Get the pins by the way...?

That's how i thought it would work.... CD in it plays the CD.... No CD in it plays the ipod....

And you can only control the volume on the HU and not any other functions??? i.e. You need to set your song / playlist going on the ipod itself??

Yeah got the keys not tried them yet though.:thumbup::thumbup:

I can skip between the Playlists, and the track, and alter the volume on the HU...thats about it.

Glad they came ok.

Dave,

with the Connects2 CTVSKX001 you'll only have volume control on the HU. Everything else is controled via your iPod / MP3 player.

But you can leave a CD in the HU all you do is press the CD button or 1 on the HU to switch between disk & player

Thanks for that matey......

That's how i thought it might operate but wasn't 100% sure. I'm happy with that seeing as i need a way of putting the ipod into both our cars and couldn't warrant paying £70-£100 per car just to be able to control the ipod from the HU.

looking at the pictures, link at top thread, it talks about a loose black wire? where does this go?

Just got ours yesterday and i would say it's the ground..... There's a small screw that i've used on the back of the HU to attach it to.

Cheers

Dave.
