Help Needed - ASAP

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help - I'm in the middle of changng the oil in the other halfs 1.4 petrol. Typically, I have the oil drained and the new oil filter in and I've only now noticed that the oil the motor factors gave me is to VW 505 spec whereas the Skoda manual tells me VW 500 or 502. It's Castrol Magnatec. The car is on fixed service intervals.

Motor Factor closed - car without oil - what do I do? I'm hoping that this oil is actually a higher spec than is needed but can be used. :worried:

Help, please

VW505 is a longlife spec. If the vehicle is on Fixed service intervals, then just check the manual and see what oil is suggested. I believe Magnatec is fully synthetic and 0w30/40 so should be fine.

So dump it in and wait until next scheduled service or should I put it in and change it again next week when I can get the specified oil?

Check the manual. In my opinion, the oil is fine and won't need changing until its due for the next service. The Longlife spec is only of interest if you are on a variable service regime. You mentioned yours is on fixed.

Just leave it in, it will be fine, just more expensive than you needed :)

Thanks to everyone for all the advice - I really had no other choice but use the oil as my wifes car was needed straight away.

My own fault for not checking the oil I got as I usually get the oil for my own Octy TDI there and they may have presumed that's what I was looking for.

Hopefully should be okay anyway.
