Badly misting up

Featured Replies

My felicia diesel seems to be badly misting up but I cannot find any damp on the carpets. Do felicias do this or is there a bigger problem? The manual says keep the blower always on or else the car will steam up so that's why I was wondering.

Many thanks!

Hot heaters and cold winter air do not mix so yes it is normal mine is the same.

If you have any dampness say in the boot this will also contribute

I had an old subaru justy doing the same thing. Didnt find any problems and not any leaks. It lived its whole life parked in a dry nice parking garage.

So the conclusion was there wasnt any water coming from the outside. It must be something coming from the cooling itself.

So i tried one of those radiator leak fix things that i bought at the gas station.

Poured it into the coolant, ran the car for a while and the windshield dried up.

It really worked. I hadnt found any hole but i seemed like there might had been a leak in the heater "core" or something. Its been good since then.

You might also want to try this Comma ProVision Fog Clear Gel | Products | Auto Express it's £3.99 I think in Wilkinsons. It doesn't get rid of the fog on the interior of the windows, it simply makes it less visible. It does seem to have almost a "breaking point" though where it does become visible with excessive fogging.

I put it on my front door windows and not the rears and the difference there is always noticeable.

i have rust on my boot lid,

and the inside of the back window is steamed up constantly now i have to lean across the estate parcel shelve to wipe it on the inside.

My windows mist up too but AFAIK theres no water leaking into the cabin.

It could just be the CO2 condensing when you breathe?

How badly does it mist?

I think water getting into the car can make it worse. Check under the carpet in the boot and in the bottom of the spare wheel well. If that leaks it ends up in there. I currently have a sunroof leak but need a dry day to try sort it out :(

Sunroof leaks - nasty.

Mine leaked earlier this year.

You'll def need a dry day to clean and lubricate the seal

Can you still get hold of sunroof seals?

My Skoda parts program ETOS has expired. Looks like it is some sort of anti-piracy system inbuilt ;) But that had a part number for the seal, only thing is when you call Skoda they don't have everything.

I have found a split in the seal that wasn't there before so that could explain it's sudden leaking. I have some silicone sealant ready to spread across that, and if that doesn't do the job I'm sealing the whole thing up with silicone sealant and never using it again

Check the foam sound proofing under the dash.If it's wet you will have to replace the rubber windscreen seal for a proper fix.It is a common fault

everyone seems to suffer from leaking widscreens apart from me (fingers crossed). I would agree with the above point and if there is dampness buy a new rubber seal and have a garage fitted. Shouldn't cost you more than 50-60 quid in total i wouldn't have thought.

I used to have an old triumph acclaim that used to drip in water like a tap over the fuses and leave a puddle sometimes over an inch deep requiring buckets to slop out! It still chugged along though with no blown fuses!!
