oil light problem

Featured Replies

i have an octavia 1.9 turbo diesel the orange oil light has come on,when i turn the ignition on it is red then beeps and turns orange can anyone tell me what this means, the car was bought 2nd hand and had no manual thanx

The oil level is low, orange for level and red for pressure. If you open and close the bonnet it will put it out for a 100 miles or so, best to check it on the dipstick and top up as necessary.

i have now topped up the oil but the orange light has stayed on, does it have to go on a machine to turn it off .

Having topped it up, where is the level showing on the dip stick?

It should not need to go on a computer to have oil level low warning reset.....

is it definately oil?

or the shape of an engine with 3 plates? i mistook that as oil at first glance but its actually onboard electronics.

if it is the one i speak of it will be located below the Asr warning light, bottom left hand side.

it could be the oil filter or a faulty oil pressure valve. When did you last changed it? Usually oil filters have by-pass valve and an anti-drain valve. It looks like the by-pass valve is open or the filter is glocked and unfiltered oil is by-passing to the engine.
