MP3 encoder

Featured Replies

i thought i'd convert some CDs to MP3 format , but just found out that i don't have the software on my laptop to do it :( or i just can't find it :o

i'm running Windows media player 9 , yeah i know :o, does anybody know of a good free to download converter

or if i buy a MP3 player will it come with the software ?

Doesn't Mediaplayer let you rip them? Just make sure you change the settings from ripping them as a .wma to an .mp3.

I'm trying to remember if WM9 will let you rip as anything other than a wma. Can't you upgrade it to a newer version?

i could upgrade to WMP11 but am reluctant to due the rights management stuff that was brought in by Microsoft on WMP10 , i don't think WMP9 can do it without buying the software from the Microsoft site

What rights management stuff? If its what I'm thinking of you can disable it, you just have to tick a box saying you accept full responsibility for any copyright infringement... I use WM11 and have never had any issues.

I swear by audiograbber by jackie franck. its freeware now (Although i bought it when it was shareware).

Its fantastic and lets you do VBR encoding which media player doesn't.

Any ideas on similar software for converting video formats? Have a vid that I'd like to upload to a hosting site but WM10 cant 'read' it :(

Another vote for Cdex.

I used to use Media Player to make WMAs before I got the Skud which won't play them.

MP3s through Cdex are much better quality then WMAs through MP.

I use SUPER which is pretty intuitive, and free

othewise, if you can't be bothered, go to Zamzar - Free online file conversion and see if they can perform the conversion you are looking for. (limited to 100megs a go though)
