Electrical problems - Blower motor and temperature gauge

Featured Replies

I have a Felicia 1,3. I have previously posted a thread describing a problem with the temperature gauge which shows maximum after about a minute (

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/felicia-fun-forman/coolant-temperature-gauge-maximum-all-times/93319/

).

I still havent solved this problem and now I have a new one involving the blower motor, which has been working on and off for awhile, and has now quit completely.

I tried changing the motor to a new one, but it did not help. The wires coming from behind the dashboard to the blower (green and brown), show 0 volts with the ignition on.

Is it possible that the wires from the temperature gauge circuit and the ones from the blower circuit, meet at some point and the problem is to find there? Or perhaps in a relay that controls both of them?

Hoping that some of you experts may have the answer.

Greetings and a happy new from year from Denmark

Stefan

Does the blower work on any speed at all, if it works on the fastest speed then the resistor pack needs to be changed.

The only thing i can think of is that they can share a earthing point behind there. But i think that most likely its your restitance pack as mentioned here thats wrong with the heater and something completly different with the temp gauge.

It seems to me that many users in here complain about the temp sensor being broken so that would be a good bet. You could probably measure the restitance trough the sensor and see that it changes as the engine gets hotter. If it doesnt its the sensor most likely. If the sensor is ok check the wiring for shortcircuts and i think that most car instruments have a voltage regulator on the back of it. these are known to fail and cause all kinds of funny symptoms. These can also be measured easily and are cheap. But check with your local skoda garage/haynes manual to find out what voltage you should be reading on it.

Hope that helps.

The wiring diagrams in the back of the Haynes manual should give you some idea which wires to test. Sorry to go back to basics, but have you checked the fuse?

When my heater motor stopped working, WD40 on the connectors got it back working again, but I guess that's because it shorted out from dampness.

You probably have a wire shorted out somewhere.
