xbox 360 to 1080p

Featured Replies

How do I get my older (non elite) xbox 360 connected to my new tv in 1080p mode, I can get 1080i.

Do I need a convertor or different cable.

TIA

few tvs are capable of a 1080p resolution, check your manual to see if it has the capabilty.

i thought my 650 pound samsung would be 1080p but 'tisnt

For 1080P you must use an xbox VGA cable, component can only do 1080i. Once connected via the VGA cable, on the display settings tab select 1920x1080, for the VGA connection this is 1080P

You can get 1080P through the component cable... but your tv has to be able to support it. Make sure you have the switch on the lead set to HDTV.

I use a component cable on the 360 and it runs fine at 1080p .I also have the 360 hddvd add on and its amazing at 1080p watching films well worth the money

My 360 picked up the lcd was able to show 1080p and the lcd auto scanned the 360 for exact hd settings not sure if this is just a setting toshiba lcd uses

Make sure you have the switch on the lead set to HDTV.

there is no switch on the lead.

not every lead can display every resolution doing certain tasks.

a component cable won't display 1080p doing all tasks, for 1080p at all times you'll need HDMi but the second best is vga which does more than component but less than HDMi.

some makes of leads have a switch to switch signals to hd the one i use does it also switches the optical on and off for audio

must be an aftermarket one, i can't see how you can switch it from SD to HD as the cable would be the same for either signal.

i've only used either original cables or exact copies myself.

the cables run more than one output through component Y/V PB PR or S video or av ,plus you get optical 5.1 sound output to your amp when you use hd settings

thats if as you said if the games etc support it and you have the right equipment at home

most of the old games dont support 1080p

My Cable has the switch on but you still need to change the display setting on your abox to HD or SD

yes the 360 will show you the settings you can choose from just pick the best one

the 360 knew when i changed to a 1080p lcd the option wasnt there till i did

just make sure your cable has the switch or not then check in the 360 set up for display settings allowed

It's the original cable that I'm using. The component cable that came with mine has a switch on for TV or HDTV. Maybe its something they phased out on newer leads, I got my 360 on launch day.

The only thing I noticed between having it on HDTV or TV is that it will let you choose between 50/60hz when its set to TV. On HDTV it takes that option away.
