ive scraped the side of my wing mirror today putting the vrs to bed in the garage, can i strip the mirror outer casing off? is it worth sanding and painting myself or getting it done proper, not impressed with myself!

Oh b*gger. Sorry to hear that mate :(

I would get it done properly if I were you.

Easy job really.

£15 in paint and materials and a bit of time, as opposed to approx £65 painted from the dealers.

If you balls it up you haven't lost a lot.

£65 - do you have to buy the whole unit?

I thought the cover was separate - cheeky Skoda.

IIRC the cover costs about £35 and the painting is extra.

We were charged £67 for a beetle mirror cover with paint.

£60 isnt half bad for a mirror.

Our bloody BMW needed new glass for the mirror only as it decided to fall out and smash?? wtf, so new piece of glass from BMW was £60

£65 is just the mirror cover and painting it to match your car.

That's what I said:confused:

In fact this was 2 years ago, it's maybe nearer £100 by now....

They unclip, but can be fiddly, and they crack easily, gently does it.....

Iirc you have to move the glass to its exremes to see the retaining clips, and use a pushy downy thingy to pop them.
