Straight or Curved Wipers?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking around it seems like I need to put a curved 19" wiper on the passenger side. Does anyone know if you can put a straight one on instead?

Cheers

I've got a straight one on (replaced it yesterday) and to me it's no different...

I had a straight one on for a while, and it started to streak pretty quickly so I got rid. The curved ones aren't exactly brilliant on the passenger side either TBH, so it may just have been down to the quality of the Halfords-own straight blade I put on as opposed to its design...

Just changed to Bosch Aero blades and the difference is staggering IMHO - wiperblades.co.uk had them delivered very quickly :)

I have the Bosch baldes also. They are very good but I have found a problem with them. When the car is going at 50-60mph+ the wipers tend to lift off slightly on the down stroke leaving little patches of water behind.

It's v annoying.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Were both of yours straight or did you have to get a curved one for the passenger side?

Yes, I've had this a little. It's most noticable when you use the wash-wipe. I've heard that bending the blade slightly helps it follow the contour of the screen better. It's disappointing that this happens.Service from wiperblades.co.uk is very good.

So is the general consensus that you can fit straight blades and it will still work as well as a curved on?

cheers

yep, ive had a straight blade on mine for nearly a year now. No sign of streaking

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've ordered some straight blades and they arrived this morning. I'll fit them tonight. Will let you know if there are any probs!
