Bumper Pack MP3 adapter?

Featured Replies

I'm just about to purchase a nearly new Mk 2 VRS - however I was a little suprised to find out that the bumper pack armrest isn't going to come with an mp3 player jack as expected even though it's a 2007 car, why could this be?

Also i heard a lead is available but requires the 6 disc to be disconnected, is there a way round this that anyone knows of?

Beats me! I was under the impression all 2007 model year cars with the jumbo box had the AUX socket. Do you know whether it has the MP3 compatible stereo as well?

If it has green brake calipers then it'll be a 2006 MY car (it may have been registered in 2007!) and will NOT have the MP3 socket in the jumbo box although it MAY be possible to retro fit it. If it has red calipers then it's a 2007 MY and SHOULD have it.

Aaah yes...it's all coming back to me now. The horrible memories!....:D

It has the green calipers but was registered in Mar 2007 ... no suprises dealer didn't mention it was 2006 car!

How would I know if it has a mp3 compatible stereo?

It will say MP3 on the front of the HU. I doubt it will be.

I think the sort of lead your are reffering to is an Ipod lead which will have control of the Ipod from the HU but as you say at the expense of the CD changer.

Do you know why it is you have to disconnect the 6 disc and do the 2007s model have a newer stereo with an extra connection which means this does not have to be done?

The MP3 connecton uses an Aux connection on the HU - it is only 3.5mm jack so will not have any Ipod control.

As I said above the type that uses the CD changer connector will have Ipod control.

I think the lead you are refering to is made by Dension (or was in Denon) and there are two sorts as far a I know. There is a cheaper one (around £100) which replaces the cd changer but I also think there is a more expensive one (maybe aroun £150-£200) which plugs in but still allows the cd changer to be used as well. Have a search in the ICE section of the forum as I am sure there are quite a few threads about each sort there and I also believe that at least one member has written a review about it.

Hi, I posted on the ICE forums and was advised something could be grafted onto the denison cable, I'm asking more questions about how.

Has anyone else heard of a ready made cable.

Also can anyone advise if the mp3 track names are displayed?
